Gurdwara Khalsa Mero Roop Hai Khas
Statement from Mukhi Sevadaars:
The Gurdwara Sahib has reopened as per current Government guidelines on places of worship from June 15th 2020.
Safety and cross infection prevention measures have been installed to safeguard everyone but particularly the most vulnerable in the Sangat and minimise the risk of spreading the infection amongst the sangat. To this end we ask all to please read and implement the following guidance when visiting the Gurdwara Sahib.
As many are aware Covid-19 poses a particularly high risk to our community for a number of reasons including- a high relative proportion of elderly sangat, increased incidence of morbidities such as diabetes and hypertension (high blood pressure) which are risks factors for covid-19.
Furthermore, without strict Infection control protocols, there is a significant and genuine risk that coronavirus would spread within our Sangat. If this happens, ‘Test, Track, and Trace’ protocols will have to be undertaken. Close contacts (possibly a large section of the Sangat) would have to be isolated and the Gurdwara may have to be ‘closed’ again. The outcome could be very serious and the repercussions to the Sangat would be far and wide.
Anyone who is experiencing symptoms of Covid19
• high temperature
• new, continuous cough
• loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
Are asked to stay at home and self-isolate for 14 days as per government advice.
Anyone who attends the gurdwara with symptoms will be kindly asked to leave.
We ask for No Food donations at this present time (please do make this donation to the local food banks in need).
There are no restrictions on times in which to visit, though it is advisable to please avoid busy times potentially in evenings.
Social distancing will be in effect from the leaving one’s car and we ask that that there are no gatherings in the car park.
Entry to Gurdwara
If the maximum capacity has been reached then we ask sangat to please wait outside whilst socially distancing -this will be clearly marked.
Hand sanitiser will be available to use prior to using the entry keypad, upon entering please use a fresh rumala or head covering provided (if required) and proceed using the One way system directly to the shoe room.
Due to the small size there will be a maximum of one person allowed in the washroom at any one time. If you are attending with members from the SAME HOUSEHOLD, they will be allowed in the washroom with you. Please refrain from using the Air hand dryer. Please wash and dry your hands thoroughly and then proceed to the Darbar Hall.
If you wish to make a donation please do so outside the darbar hall when leaving (there will be provision for this) to reduce cross infection risk from touching notes / coins after washing hands.
The central walkway will be clearly marked for social distancing when waiting to matha tek. There will be a washable surface (sheet) on the floor when matha teking. A sevadar will wipe this clean with the antibacterial wipes immediately after matha teking in readiness for the next person.
If you wish to have some personal time to do some paat for a short time the areas to sit will be clearly marked.
There is a maximum of 4 people (from the SAME HOUSEHOLD) able to sit in each marked area that will be socially distance by 2 metres.
We respectfully ask that there is no group gathering for paat at present with the exception of a family group from the same household sitting together.
There may be Sukha (dry) Prashad/Kara (wet) Prashad available which will be prepacked in the hallway to take when leaving. Please use the one-way system and social distance in the hallway when returning to the shoeroom, place used rumalas (head coverings) in the ‘used’ basket and use the handsantiser before leaving.
• Doors will remain open and some windows to have adequate ventilation in the building.
• At this time there will be no langar served.
• Sevadaars will be present to monitor the number of sangat in the building to ensure safety.
• The ladies and gents toilets will remain open with a maximum capacity of 2 people at any one time – please clean with the wipes available after use.
• Please ensure that children are kept with their family/household members at ALL TIMES whist visiting the gurdwara for darshan.
• The langar hall, secondary hall, kitchen and entire upstairs areas will remain closed and off limits.
There will be regular review of these initial guidelines and as the climate changes we will update the sangat via whatsapp and social media. Please stay safe and in chardi kala! Any queries please contact Karnail Singh 07801431855 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
